Firstly, thank you to those of you who took time to sign our petition to People Magazine and/or send it out to your lists. It was successful in that the senior editor of medical content personally called me and expressed his deep concern over so many individuals not being "happy" with the piece, "Desperate Measures". He told me that the petition was "sobering". We had a near two hour conversation and I have been promised a chance to have input in future articles dealing with vaccination. He was truly appreciative of the information in the petition and the information I gave him in our phone conversation. In the meantime, People Magazine has agreed to publish a short letter to the editor in which we are able to mention our website. We are attempting to feature and route those who read the letter to the National Autism Association's online library. The letter will be published in the December 20, 2004 publication, available on news stands December 10, 2004.
Again, this will be a short letter (as instructed), not the lengthy educational letter we would like to write, but the hope is that the website exposure will lead to readers becoming educated and realize how many groups are out there dedicated to the issue. Thanks again to those who helped, this went a long way in educating at least one small piece of the media. We believe that this can be done and is critical.
Sincerely,
